Steve Szentesi is a Canadian competition and advertising lawyer based in Toronto. His experience includes counseling corporations, associations, national and local governments and individual clients on the application of Canadian competition and advertising laws. He has worked on hundreds of matters in the competition, advertising and marketing, contest, conspiracy/cartel, abuse of dominance, compliance, refusal to deal, pricing and distribution and Investment Canada Act areas.
His practice experience includes working at some of the leading business law firms in Toronto (Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg), Vancouver (Lang Michener, now McMillan) and London, U.K. (Linklaters). He also served as in-house competition counsel for The Canadian Real Estate Association in Ottawa, one of Canada’s largest trade associations.
His academic experience includes serving as adjunct professor of competition law at the University of British Columbia, Faculty of Law, for four years and publishing widely in the competition and regulatory law areas.
His publications include acting as Lawyer Editor for Practical Law Canada – Competition (Thomson Reuters), The Competition Law Guide for Trade Associations in Canada (Carswell), Competition Law and REALTORS (ACRE/CREA publication) and subject matter expert and advisor for Competition Law and REALTORS (national compliance course for Canadian REALTORS). He has also authored many publications in the competition and advertising law areas.
